DEVELOPING A COLLEGE TIME LINE

· Be sure your student enrolls in college prep courses. Math, English and Writing are essential college skills. If you have any questions meet with your student’s counselor.

· Stress the importance of good grades (the best they can do) in all course work.

· Begin to read about the college admissions process.

· If you haven’t already done so, begin to develop your college-financing plan.

· Register for the NEDT/NMSQT (usually given in October).

· Register for the Practice SAT (usually given in February).

· Start your Student Resume. This would include such items as volunteer work, work experience, extracurricular activities, honors/awards, community service, scholastic/community sports, hobbies, and any other information you might think that would make you a viable college candidate.
